My School Celabrates Literature!

My favourite part of of the literature festival was going round and seeing all the stalls in the hall and library. Me and my buddy went all around the school doing treasure hunts and guessing pages and guessing authors. I also liked then Mark Wilson came and talked to us about his history and his books. He also taught us how to draw some pictures.

From Mark Wilson I learned that some of his books are about his relatives, he also has illustrations in his books of real things. For example, he had an old letter that he just copied into his book! I also learned some drawing techniques. We had one shape and we turned it into a bird, snake and leaf. It was actually simpler then I thought!!

I really enjoyed the literature festival at my school!

Market Posters

This term we have a Year 5 Market. We all get into groups and make products to sell. We also ‘upcycle’ things which means use materials that would usually be thrown away. Here are our advertisements for our products:

Term 1 Year 5

This term has been great! I am in a really fun class with really nice students and an awesome teacher. Our grade 5 classrooms are altogether in one space upstairs, so it is really easy to meet up with friends in other classes. I also love that we now have lockers instead of a bag hook. Lockers are great because they have a space for your bag, lunch, and books. I like that the lockers are all in the one area, so you can always see all your friends there.

I love my class because it is such a lovely group of people and I have a really nice teacher. There were 39 new students in year 5. I have 10 new students in my class and I have loved getting to know them all in class and at snack and lunch.

I was a bit concerned that I wouldn’t be able to understand the work in grade 5, but it turns out it’s actually been fun and I’ve built on my skills. I have used many of the positive learner attributes this term. I have connected with old friends and new friends. I’ve shown courage by having a go at rock climbing and trying to make it to the top. I’ve fallen off the seesaw during bike riding but I showed resilience and got up and tried again.

Today I had a go at complete in the triathlon. This was something that I was not looking forward to. I was proud that I pushed myself and challenged myself to swim extra laps in the pool. It turns out that I LOVED the triathlon and I can’t wait to do it again tomorrow. I didn’t expect that I would enjoy it or even be able to do it!

I have learnt that with a bit of hard work and practice you CAN do things you thought you wouldn’t be able to do. One of my goals for next term and beyond is give things a go and have a positive attitude because you might end up really enjoying yourself.

Was there a time when you ended up loving something that you thought you wouldn’t like?
